Foundation for Lasting Relationship

Human society has always been shaped by conventions—rules, traditions, and boundaries that people construct to feel safe. Conventions are like walls, built by fearful minds seeking protection from uncertainty. They provide order, predictability, and a sense of belonging. Yet, these walls are not unbreakable; they are fragile structures that limit the human spirit. Love, on the other hand, is the invisible wind that flows freely above these walls. It cannot be contained, nor can it be restricted by boundaries. Love transcends fear, dissolves barriers, and reminds us of the deeper truths of existence.  

The passage suggests that conventions are born out of fear. People, uncertain of the unknown, create systems and traditions to shield themselves. These conventions become a fortress, offering security but also confining freedom. They dictate how we live, what we believe, and even how we express ourselves. However, love does not recognize these boundaries. It moves beyond them, like a breeze that cannot be captured. Love is invisible yet powerful, capable of softening hearts and breaking down walls that fear has built.  

The second part of the reflection turns toward the idea of possession and belonging. It acknowledges a profound truth: we do not truly own ourselves. Our existence is not something we can claim as property. Yet, this lack of ownership does not diminish our value. Instead, it reveals a deeper connection to the universe. Just as the sky does not belong to the moon, and the moon does not belong to the sky, they are inseparably linked. The moon shines only within the sky, and the sky is illuminated by the moon. Their relationship is not one of possession but of harmony.  

This metaphor beautifully illustrates the nature of love and existence. Love does not demand ownership; it thrives in freedom. To love someone is not to possess them but to share a space of harmony, just as the moon and sky share their eternal dance. True love is not about control or fear—it is about trust, openness, and the willingness to let the wind flow where it may.  

The passage also challenges us to rethink our relationship with conventions. While conventions may provide safety, they are ultimately limited. Love, however, is limitless. It teaches us that life is not about building walls but about embracing the winds that pass through them.
