

Special needs is a very broad term and every situation is unique.
Children with special needs may have developmental delays, medical conditions, psychiatric conditions, and/or congenital conditions. Children with special needs require accommodations to reach their potential.
The term special education describes the programs and services designed for children of determination (children with special needs) in order to ensure that all students can reach their full potential.
Volunteering in this field can be rewarding as well as challenging. However when volunteering with special needs children, keep in mind that it requires more than just willingness to help. Some of the skills you need to possess include, but are not limited to this list, include:
• be great with kids
• be able to adapt easily
• possess good communication skills
• have imagination, creativity, and patience
• the ability to remain calm in stressful situations
• have a non-judgmental approach
When Ms. Janaki Hettiarachchi opened the tiny center for special education at Malsiripula, rural district in Sri Lanka, she had nothing but over-whelming love for children of special needs. With the help of parents and donor -community, she managed to developed the center to the present-day status. However much to be done to bring it to the state-of the art level and the well-wishers are welcomed for generous contribution.
Special education can be seen as specialized instruction designed to meet the learning needs and providing opportunities to their fullest potential. Children with special needs have to be treated with love and patience. It is love bring into action
